Read first, then check the destination
- Open a clear image in the Qurl reader, available below the generator.
- Compare the decoded content with what you intended to share.
- For a link, check its domain and open it yourself only if you trust it.
If no content is recognised, first look for an image issue: a cropped quiet zone, small size, blur or low contrast. If the address decodes correctly but the page fails, the problem is probably with the destination or your connection.
What can stop working
- The domain is not renewed or its configuration changes.
- The page or file has moved, been deleted or become private.
- An intermediary redirect has been disabled.
- A temporary link or restricted access is no longer valid.
The local reader does not contact these destinations, so it cannot certify availability. A successful read is not proof of a link's safety either.
Prepare a lasting link
For a menu or document that may change, prefer a stable URL you control. Replace the content behind the address instead of distributing a new link with every revision. Keep a copy of the QR code, its exact content and the name of the person responsible for the domain.
Also test the page in a browser where you are signed out: a private link may work for you while blocking all visitors. Repeat this check before a major reprint.
