Add a logo while keeping your QR code readable

A subtle logo can give your QR code a distinctive identity. It covers part of the pattern, though: size, contrast and checking the result are essential.

Prepare a simple image

Use a PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 2 MB. A simple shape or monogram stays more readable than detailed text. Qurl resizes and re-encodes the image locally; no file is sent to the server. Imported SVGs are not accepted.

Open “Personalise”, choose your colours, then add the logo. You can remove it or reset the style without clearing your content.

Keep a dark QR code on a light background

The background stays opaque and the quiet zone intact. Qurl rejects very low contrast; this is a safeguard, not scanning certification. The site's dark theme does not automatically change your file's colours.

With a logo, the engine uses a higher error correction level. This does not mean you can cover a large part of the code arbitrarily. The central area is limited, and reserved patterns are redrawn when necessary, even over the logo.

Check the final composition

Qurl decodes the preview and compares it with the expected content. PNG and SVG files are read again before download. If comparison fails, the file is refused: remove the logo, increase contrast or shorten the content.

Our tests cover a fictional 48 × 32 pixel transparent PNG logo, the Lime palette and all three exports. They also check rejection of SVGs and images larger than 2 MB. This is not a guarantee for all logos or devices.

Before sharing widely

Scan the real material with the final logo and colours. For a business card or small label, a version without a logo may be more suitable. Keep a copy of the checked file and ensure the destination remains accessible.
