Start with the clearest file
If you have the original PNG, use it directly. For a QR code embedded in a document, enlarge the page until its small squares are distinct, then capture the code with its light margin. Preserve its square proportions and avoid resizing it in a messaging app along the way.
PDF and SVG files are not accepted by the Qurl reader. Export the page as PNG in your software or take a screenshot. Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP file no larger than 10 MB. A heavily reduced full page often contains less detail than a clean crop.
Extract content without a webcam
- Open the Qurl reader, then the file picker.
- Choose an image containing one clearly visible QR code.
- Wait for the result and compare the preview with the document you received.
- Select the decoded text to copy it if needed.
- Clear the result before moving on to another sensitive image.
This workflow uses a file, not a webcam. You do not need to hold your screen in front of a camera or install an extension for this task. Wi-Fi content stays hidden until you explicitly reveal it.
Decide whether to open or import afterwards
Decoding and using the content are separate actions. You can copy a web address into a new tab after checking its domain. A vCard or Wi-Fi configuration may remain text: the reader does not import it into your system.
Review the whole address, not just a brand name near the beginning. A readable QR code is not a security check of the destination website. Do not paste unfamiliar text into a terminal or administration tool: that is never a required step for reading a QR code.
Check several codes in a document
For a brochure with several QR codes, create one image per code and name them after the pages. Record the expected content and decoded result beside each name. This mapping reveals a duplicated image or a link placed under the wrong caption.
The reader does not produce an automatic batch report. Organise your checks with the batch print approval method. If a file remains unreadable, return to the reading diagnosis.
