WhatsApp QR code: check the number and prefilled message

A WhatsApp QR code makes opening a conversation easier. It does not confirm a booking or send a message on the visitor’s behalf. Prepare a reliable recipient and a sentence the person can review before sending.

Check the recipient’s number

Use the full international number of the WhatsApp account you want people to contact. The wa.me link contains the number’s digits without a plus sign, spaces or brackets. Enter your international number in Qurl, then inspect the generated link.

Do not infer the country from the website’s language or your customer’s language. Have the person managing conversations confirm the number. A missing digit may prevent opening or lead to another recipient; a valid format does not establish account identity.

Write a short, useful message

Prefer a simple intention: “Hello, I would like to know about workshop availability.” This fictional sentence starts the conversation without inventing a date, price or confirmation. The visitor can add their requirements.

Avoid personal details and sensitive information in a shared message printed on a poster. The prefilled text is part of the link and can be read by anyone holding the QR code. A general material reference such as “reception poster” may provide enough context.

Check the link and preview

  1. Generate the QR code on Qurl’s WhatsApp page.
  2. Read its image and verify the wa.me domain and recipient digits.
  3. Deliberately open the link on a device where WhatsApp can be used.
  4. Check the displayed account, accents, spaces and punctuation in the message.
  5. If a test message is necessary, agree it with the recipient and clearly identify the test.

Message characters are encoded in the address. Do not manually replace percent sequences: edit the message field and generate a new version.

Describe the conversation without false promises

On the material, write “Message us on WhatsApp” and state response hours if you can meet them. Do not present scanning as a confirmed booking or an instant service. Provide another contact route for people who do not use WhatsApp.

A changed number or message requires reviewing the distributed QR code. Avoid version mix-ups with pre-print verification and alternatives to scanning.
