Prepare the ticket in the dedicated app
The Games open on 6 February. To retrieve a ticket, the official guide directs users to the “Tickets MilanoCortina2026” app and their ticketing account credentials. They then select a session and open the corresponding ticket. The app’s name matters: a news or schedule app is not an admission ticket.
Before leaving, check that the correct session appears in your account and that you can open its ticket. A booking confirmation saved in email does not replace this check. It helps avoid discovering a sign-in problem in the entrance queue.
A QR code displayed 24 hours before the session
The ticketing guide for affiliates states that the entry QR code will be shown 24 hours before the session. The general user guide also describes a secure code appearing as the event approaches. A missing QR several days before the event therefore does not, by itself, mean the ticket has disappeared.
Three things need to be distinguished: the booking, the ticket in the account and the code presented for admission. They belong to the same process without necessarily becoming visible at the same time. How QR codes work explains how the symbol carries data; its validity here depends on the ticketing system.
Transfer a ticket rather than send its picture
Sending a screenshot to someone does not transfer a ticket. The official process includes a transfer action followed by the recipient’s acceptance. The invitation link can travel through a messaging service; that is different from sharing a picture of the QR code.
Tickets are nominative. Check the beneficiary and the options offered for your ticket: functions can vary according to its origin. If transfer is unavailable, contact the channel that supplied it. The guide does not support promising that every ticket can be freely transferred or resold.
Arrive with admission ready to display
Plan for a charged phone, the app already open and enough time to seek help if the ticket remains inaccessible. The New Zealand Olympic Committee FAQ says venue ticketing services can help restore access where possible. That does not guarantee admission without a displayable ticket.
A QR code made with a general generator does not recreate an official ticket, and a generic reader does not certify its validity. For your own events, keep this distinction between information and access rights. Provide an accessible alternative to the QR code also helps plan for people who cannot use the phone-based process.
