From content to sharing

Three steps to your location QR code.

  • Find the right point

Get the location's coordinates from your mapping service. Check the public entrance, rather than just the centre of a building or site.

  • Enter latitude, then longitude

Use decimal degrees: latitude from −90 to 90 and longitude from −180 to 180. A point or comma is accepted; keep the minus sign for south and west. View the exact encoded content to check the link.

  • Check before sharing

Scan the downloaded file and open Google Maps yourself to check the point. Also test the printed QR code at its final size. Add a readable address or access directions alongside it.

An illustrative point.

Latitude : 50,8503
Longitude : 4,3517
Lien encodé : https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=50.8503%2C4.3517

Illustrative coordinates in Brussels, not a verified meeting address. They do not prefill the form: use a point you have checked.

Good habits.

  • The QR code contains a Google Maps link, not an embedded map. Opening it takes you to Google's service; the display depends on the device, service and usually an internet connection.
  • A point is not a verified business listing, a route or a guarantee of access. Check the side of the street, entrance, opening hours and site conditions before sharing them.
  • Coordinates stay in your browser during generation. Anyone with the QR code can then read them: avoid sharing a private address or confidential location.
  • The link is fixed in the QR code. If the point changes, create a new QR code and replace your materials. Qurl does not track your position or the movements of people who scan it.
How Qurl checks your files

Good to know

Before creating your location QR code.

Can I enter a postal address?

This page expects latitude and longitude, not an address to look up. If you already have a map sharing link, you can use the website link generator on the homepage. Always check the destination before printing.

Why latitude before longitude?

The order distinguishes two different axes. Latitude ranges from −90 to 90 and longitude from −180 to 180. Swapped values may still be valid while pointing elsewhere; Qurl cannot guess your intended location.

Which formats are accepted?

Decimal degrees with a point or comma, up to eight decimal places. Leading and trailing spaces and unnecessary zeros are removed without rounding. Degrees, minutes and seconds, N/S/E/W letters and exponential notation are not accepted.

Does Qurl use my current location?

No. The fields start empty, with no geolocation request or map lookup. Qurl builds the link from your two entries. Google Maps may offer its own features after you open the destination.

Does scanning start navigation immediately?

The link identifies a point in Google Maps. It does not choose a starting point or transport mode, and Qurl does not automatically start navigation. What happens next depends on the app used after scanning.

Do decimal places guarantee an accurate location?

No. Their number does not prove the quality of the coordinates or the point's accessibility. Check the destination on the map and, if needed, on site. A readable address and access directions are useful alongside the QR code.
