From content to sharing

Three simple steps.

  • Name your campaign

Enter the destination, source, medium and campaign name. Content and term are optional. Use consistent, public names.

  • Review the proposed link

Unchanged parameters and the fragment stay in place. If a UTM key you enter already exists, confirm its replacement before downloading.

  • Test your campaign

Select the link to copy it with your device, or download the QR code. Test the destination and its measurement yourself before printing.

A fictional example.

https://example.org/menu?utm_source=affiche&utm_medium=qr&utm_campaign=portes-ouvertes

Fictional campaign example. The form starts empty; Qurl installs or contacts no measurement tool.

Good habits.

  • UTM parameters describe a link. They do not count scans themselves or create a statistics dashboard.
  • Measurement depends on the destination website, its configuration and visitors' privacy choices. Qurl does not receive the results.
  • Do not put names, email addresses, personal identifiers or secrets in parameters. The link is visible and may be shared or recorded by services receiving it.
  • A signed or temporary link may reject extra parameters. Even if its original part is preserved exactly, the extended link is not guaranteed to work.
How Qurl checks your files

Good to know

A few useful pointers.

Which fields must I fill in?

Destination, source, medium and campaign are required in this tool. Content can distinguish two poster versions, for example; term is optional. Values are freely chosen: “qr” is one possible convention, not a guarantee of classification in a report.

What happens to existing parameters?

Any entered keys among utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term are replaced only after confirmation if they already exist. All their occurrences are then replaced with a single value. Other address segments, their order and the fragment are preserved.

What if I leave an optional field empty?

An existing utm_content or utm_term key is kept if its field stays empty. To remove it, edit the starting address yourself, then check the result. Key names are case-sensitive.

Why does my confirmation disappear?

Changing a campaign field withdraws permission to replace parameters, so an agreement for a different link is not reused. The previous QR code is immediately invalidated.

Does the link become dynamic?

No. The QR code contains exactly the proposed URL, without a Qurl redirect. It does not update after printing. For long URLs, Qurl's same 1,200-byte limit applies to the final link.
