Print professional

A crisp file.
A well-prepared print run.

From the received file to the print proof, check the QR code's content, dimensions and appearance in its final layout.

The quiet zone is part of the QR code.

Your turn

A well-prepared project.

  • Confirm the received content

Read the QR code from an image and compare its destination with the expected one. The reader displays the content without opening the link. Check destination access separately: a readable QR code can point to an unavailable page.

    Read a QR image
  • Choose a suitable file

SVG keeps vector modules for layout work. Qurl's PDF prepares a QR code at a physical size on an A4 page; it is not a complete production file with bleed. PNG works if its resolution suits the placed size.

  • Set the size before printing

The print preparation tool calculates the QR side length, quiet zone included, from your content. Print the PDF at 100%. In your layout software, check dimensions after import and avoid disproportionate stretching.

The final details

On the print proof.

A QR code decoded on screen is a first check. Also verify the destination and the material actually used.

  1. Preserve at least four modules of light quiet zone around the symbol, clear of frames, text and trim lines.
  2. Keep strong contrast and an opaque background. Check colour conversions and the final rendering quality.
  3. Test the exported document, then an actual-size copy on the selected paper and finish.
  4. Try several devices under the intended scanning conditions. Approve the material before starting the run.

Good to know

Before getting started.

Is software decoding enough to approve a print run?

No. It checks the digital rendering's content. Size, printing, reflections and devices affect scanning on the material. A physical test is still needed.

Can I enlarge an SVG without losing sharpness?

Vector modules stay sharp when enlarged proportionally. You still need to preserve the quiet zone and check that export software does not degrade the result.

Which size guarantees scanning?

Qurl guarantees no universal size. The calculation describes the QR geometry; testing on the material at the intended distance determines whether it is suitable.
